Why did you want to enter The Revo’s?

In short, we’re really proud of the work we’ve undertaken at Castle Quarter, repositioning it to become Norwich’s leading social, leisure and lifestyle destination. A pivot such as this requires not only the right strategy, but buy-in from the entire team to enact that change, and these efforts have paid dividends. The Revo’s are all about showcasing the very best in retail destinations, and Castle Quarter is very much a part of those conversations.

What makes your entry standout?

Many retail schemes talk about repositioning, but Castle Quarter is one of the first to successfully implement such a strategy. Taking a previously retail-led scheme to a destination that is now 50% retailers and 50% leisure, social and dining operators has been a significant undertaking, but undoubtedly a rewarding one. Castle Quarter stands as an exemplar of how urban destinations can pivot to take on new and viable roles in the local community.

How do you envision the future of your industry, and how do you hope to contribute to it?

Anyone working in the retail and leisure sectors mustn’t lose sight of what we’re here to do: give people the shopping and experience options that they want. And if you can anticipate those needs, by embracing the coming trends shifting with consumer opinion, then so much the better. Focus on what visitors want and you won’t go too far wrong. At RivingtonHark, our contribution as asset manager is to help these destinations figure out what those requirements are – and work hard to realise that vision.

What one word best summarises your entry?

Repositioning.
