A statement from Vivienne King, Chair of Revo

Everyone at Revo was incredibly saddened to hear about the death of Gary Stanley, a member of the centre:mk team, last weekend.

First and foremost, we want to extend our condolences to his family and friends, and also offer our support to the centre:mk team, who no doubt will have been deeply impacted.

Violence against staff in retail-led environments is all too common, and a matter we take incredibly seriously, as an industry body that represents the sector and its people. We work closely with The Retail Trust, a charity set up nearly 200 years ago with the explicit purpose of protecting the health and wellbeing of people in retail, to understand the scale of the issue and support its efforts. Tragic incidents like this highlight the importance of continuing such work.

Creating safe and welcoming environments is something everyone in our sector seeks to achieve, and we will continue to champion the tireless efforts of our members and built environment staff who share Gary’s passion for making that happen.
