Ten years of Revo: where the story began

To mark our tenth anniversary, we’re going back to where the story started. In 2016, we created a short film about the need to transition from the British Council of Shopping Centres to Revo, looking at a new purpose and vision that would better serve our industry.

Watching it back a decade on, what’s striking is both how much has changed and how much has stayed true.

The industry has transformed dramatically. Technology, investment, consumer expectations, placemaking and the role of destinations have all evolved. Yet the themes at the heart of Revo remain just as relevant today: collaboration, innovation, partnership, and a belief in the power of great places.

Over the past ten years, Revo has evolved with the retail-led environments that it serves, while staying true to its purpose of bringing together the people shaping places, to share ideas, challenge thinking, and set the direction of travel. Relevance is not something you achieve once and keep forever; it must be earned, again and again, through listening, learning, adapting, and evolving.

This feels particularly fitting as we look back at that film from 2016, where Revo began.

It is a reminder of the ideas and ambitions that shaped our organisation ten years ago, but the story is far from finished.

The next decade will bring new challenges, new opportunities, and new ways to create value. What won’t change is the importance of coming together as a community to drive innovation and shape what comes next.

So, as we celebrate the first ten years of Revo, let’s look forward with confidence, ambition, and optimism to the next ten.
