REFLECT- QUADRANT SHOPPING CENTRE

The Quadrant Shopping Centre in Swansea is home to over 30 popular High Street stores throughout its 440,000sqft of retail space. It’s the beating heart of the community and with its hyperlocal approach, it has developed initiatives that have had a direct impact on shoppers’ lives as we all navigated through the pandemic. Its community focus spans across employability, sustainability, cultural events, championing its people, charity work, mental and physical health and wellbeing, and giving local people a platform and a voice.

  • The Quadrant’s jobs fair and the Employment Hub pop-up shop, continues to help 1000s of people into work post-pandemic, giving them the confidence and skills to find work 
  • The Dementia Hub has directly supported over 600 people (610) to date (in4 months) from those living with dementia to their friends, families, and carers. Dementia cases have significantly increased during the pandemic which is why this space has become a lifeline for so many. 
  • The introduction of The Little Green Shop, The Repair Café and The Library of Things have made it possible for people to re-use and recycle in the centre of Swansea  
  • As well as hosting an LGBTQ+ pop-up for the community and allies to seek support, Quadrant retailers have also joined the Swansea Pride pledge ,demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity. Trans symbols are displayed alongside the male and female symbols on centre toilets, helping trans friends feel at ease when visiting. 

The community initiatives have also had a positive impact on the centre’s footfall with an uplift of +193% year on year, proving that collaboration between retail and community initiatives benefits everyone.
